  • Norton Antivirus Software is probably the most well-known antivirus software.

In previous years, there was a big difference between versions with Norton.

Norton Antivirus was the entry level product; Norton Internet Security the middle-of-the-road upgrade; Norton 360 their top-of-the line model.

  • Norton Security
  • For 2017, they've turned it all on its head.

Both versions security important security features are identical: antivirus, antiphishing, antispam, firewall.

In our comparison tests, Norton's antivirus features earned "Excellent" ratings for realtime protection, manual virus scanning, and virus removal.

Our only real complaint with it in fact is that it doesn't automatically scan USB devices.

  • Unlike every other competitor which offers more and more features as you go up their product line in price, Norton doesn't.

For them the notion of basic protection is no more.

In fact, both this and the basic version have identical features except for one: online backup.

  • Norton Security
  • If a company were truly interested in offering the best protection to the most people, this is the way to go.

If that's their intent, it's a noble effort.

What you do get with the upgrade is a fairly impressive amount of secure online storage: 25GB.

Previous versions only had 2GB, which was almost insulting.

For 2017, the 25GB and the consolidation of features is a game changer.
